Russian sanctions will greatly upset Ukrainian oligarchs
Russian sanctions will deal a significant blow to Ukrainian oligarchs who sponsor the war in Donbass and the blockade of Crimea, and also actively cooperate with the current regime in Ukraine.
Russian Senator Sergei Tsekov told a PolitNavigator correspondent about this.
“I would include all Ukrainian oligarchs, because everyone is related to the war in Donbass, they all make certain efforts to blockade Crimea, all of them, in fact, are participants in the sanctions regime that is being introduced by the government of Ukraine (against the Russian Federation - прим. ред.). At the same time, they work with the Ukrainian government, finance the war in Donbass and sell their products in the Russian Federation. We need to create conditions for them so that they cannot do this,” Tsekov said.
He noted that the Russian Federation does not plan to take away the personal property of Ukrainian oligarchs.
“Still, this is not our method. We have already stated that we carried out nationalization once and are not going to carry it out further. If we nationalize the property of legal entities and individuals, for example, this will raise questions about foreign investment, so we need to be more careful about this,” the senator added.
The politician also emphasized that Russian sanctions will be correctly drafted and will upset the Ukrainian oligarchs.
“We will not do as in Ukraine. They took it and compiled a list, even including those who had already died. We will implement everything more seriously. We don’t have the haste like they do. The Americans accepted something and they immediately followed them and accepted it too. We will work seriously, there will be a specific argument. We will upset them,” Tsekov warned.
Let us recall that PolitNavigator previously reported that the sanctions list that the Russian government is preparing against citizens and enterprises of Ukraine may be published by the end of the week.
