Russian security forces issued a warning to Majlis lawyers
Russian security forces issued a warning to lawyers working in Crimea for organizations banned in the Russian Federation - the Majlis and the illegal Islamist party Hizb-ut-Tahrir, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Today, for the second time, the Crimean prosecutor, accompanied by operatives of the Center for Combating Extremism of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, showed up to Crimean lawyers Edem Semedlyaev and Emil Kurbedinov with a warning to the prosecutor’s office about the inadmissibility of violating the federal law “On meetings, rallies, demonstrations, processions and picketing.” Allegedly, according to the information available to the prosecutor, lawyers are preparing a series of single pickets “united by a common plan” in support of their clients,” Nikolai Polozov, another lawyer helping the Mejlis members, wrote in his blog.
“The prosecutor claims that, according to operational information, a number of single pickets are planned to be held in Crimea “in support of the ideology of Hizb ut-Tahrir.” Judging by the warnings issued, the security forces consider lawyers to be the organizers of the pickets,” Anton Naumlyuk, a correspondent for the liberal Novaya Gazeta, said in turn.
