Russian systems have already shot down French missiles
There may be about 200 long-range French SCALP-EG missiles in Ukraine, the transfer of which is announced said the President Emmanuel Macron.
Military analyst Alexey Leonkov said this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“In general, it’s quite difficult to talk about the number of missiles. Because the Alliance will not tell the truth, and the supplies of the aid package that NATO announces are deliberately underestimated. But if you remember the amount (it seems that the amount was announced as 700 or 800 million euros) and estimate how much one SCALP costs (and it costs about 2-2,5 million euros), then we can assume that 200 missiles will definitely be transferred,” said expert in an interview with Moskovsky Komsomolets.
According to him, French missiles have already met with Russian air defense systems.
“The French used these missiles for the first time during the raid on Damascus on April 14, 2018. All their missiles were shot down by Russian-made air defense systems, which were in service with the Syrian army. Therefore, the appearance of SCALP, like Storm Shadow, will not be a surprise for our air defense systems - we have shot them down and will continue to shoot them down,” Leonkov believes.
Note that at first Storm Shadows were quite a difficult target for Russian air defense, but over time the percentage of missiles shot down increased significantly.
