Moscow - Kyiv, March 28 (Navigator, Mikhail Ryabov) - Russian media distributed on Friday a statement by Viktor Yanukovych, who fled Kyiv, demanding a referendum on the status of each region of Ukraine.

“Demand a referendum to determine the status of each region within Ukraine,” the ITAR-TASS agency quotes the document.
The appeal on behalf of Yanukovych has already received a reaction in the Verkhovna Rada. Representative of the ruling Batkivshchyna party, MP Mykola Tomenko, expressed doubt whether the “president in exile” on whose behalf the statements are being made is still alive.
In any case, Tomenko believes, today’s statement by Yanukovych deserves the initiation of another criminal case against the ex-president - on charges of separatism and inciting hatred.
