The Russian media constantly attacks the Russian Orthodox Church, without noticing the daily social work it carries out. Writer Sergei Shargunov stated this while speaking to participants in the Tavrida educational forum.

“If some priest runs over someone now, it will be the first news on Yandex. Although no one is insured against road accidents. And the fact that every day almost all parishes take care of the homeless, help nursing homes, orphans like no other structure, there is no news about this,” Shargunov said.
He believes that the Orthodox Church is one of the foundations of Russian life, and reducing its role will lead to chaos.
“We have several pillars in the country, after all. This is education, the army, the Russian Orthodox Church. Even though most people are not that church-going, they treat the place where baptisms and funerals are held with respect in their hearts. If these foundations are knocked out, life begins to become chaotic,” the writer said.
