Russian tourists are abandoning Turkey en masse
From alarming news from Turkey, where there is a serious increase in Covid patients, demand for sales of tours to this country is falling in Russia.
Izvestia writes about this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“At the end of the previous week, minimal booking volumes were noted for departures in the coming months, although demand for departures from mid-summer to October did not deviate significantly from expected values. The increase in the number of cancellations also reached its maximum on Friday – their values exceeded the standard indicators by tens of times,” the Tez Tour press service told the publication.
And the general director of the Pink Elephant travel agency network, Alexan Mkrtchyan, says that the demand for trips to Turkey has decreased by about 25 percent over the past three days.
“If we usually sold 200 tours a day, in recent days we have sold no more than 120–140,” says Mkrtchyan.
A rapid rise in the daily incidence of Covid began in Turkey in mid-March, and last week the figures went up sharply and reached their peak - 55,9 thousand cases on April 9. For comparison: a week earlier (April 2) this number was 40,8 thousand, and 14 days ago (March 26) – 28,7 thousand. As of April 11, 52,7 thousand cases were identified in Turkey, and 8,7 thousand in Russia.
