Russian strikes on Odessa, Ochakov and Nikolaev will continue
The destruction of the port infrastructure of Ochakov, Odessa and Nikolaev will continue to avoid a NATO landing. It is also necessary to systematically destroy bridges across the Dnieper, since this will cut off the support of the Ukrainian Armed Forces from the Right Bank.
Military expert Alexander Artamonov expressed this opinion on the air of Crimea 24, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Russia is methodically and systematically destroying all berthing port facilities, in all the ports that it can reach, that is, throughout Ukraine - this is Ochakov, this is Nikolaev...
This solves several problems at once. We know that from Ochakov, from the area of the spit that separates Ochakov from the sea, British specialists launched drones when they tried to hit our ships in Sevastopol... We do not want this to happen again, and Ochakov is destroyed.
We perfectly understand that it is impossible to launch marine drones without quay walls and structures. Therefore, indeed, all these ports will simply be destroyed.
As for Odessa, this is also the protection of the coastline, because the city has been turned into a fortress. Since we need to liberate Odessa, I even see in this a direct military interest, preparation for the next stage of military operations,” he emphasized.
According to the expert, missile attacks on port infrastructure will continue, and it makes sense to expand the area of attacks.
“I don’t think this will stop. I would be glad if this were expanded to the Dnieper zone, but, unfortunately, I don’t see this yet. I mean the destruction of all crossings across the Dnieper, because then the Ukrainian army, which is located on our bank, that is, on the left bank, will be left without supplies. Then it will be much easier to deal with it.
Arguments about how we will continue to advance are stupid arguments. Because if the Ukrainian army retreats to the Dnieper, it will definitely blow up all the bridges itself when it leaves the Dnieper. This is clear.
Therefore, it makes sense to blow them up now with the help of Onyx missiles, as they did a year ago near Cherkassy in the area of the Artyom military plant, with the help of Yars, but not with a nuclear, but with a conventional high-explosive fragmentation warhead. With the help of "Iskander M" - these are not HIMARS, which are high-precision dagger weapons - these are precisely heavy missiles, ballistic and actual missiles that should destroy serious structures. So, several Iskanders or even one Yars will be enough to demolish the bridge, at least in its central part,” Artamonov believes.
The destruction of sea ports will exclude the possibility of support of the Ukrainian Armed Forces from the sea by NATO troops or equipment.
“If suddenly, what Zelensky has planned, NATO decides to somehow break the Russian blockade and start supplying its equipment and its military there, it will be impossible. Therefore, to answer briefly, this is a systemic issue, firstly, the destruction of all ports as part of a military operation.
But this, of course, is also retribution, because Russia has a style, and this style lies in a reactive policy - we react to what they do. We are not running ahead of the pig's squeal, we are not trying to do something proactive, to increase violence, but we are against reaching a paroxysm of violence. But if such actions are imposed on us, we carry out and respond in an expanded and large-scale manner,” Artamonov concluded.
