“Officers, rank-and-file personnel, with whom I communicate - sometimes these, although ordinary, but not ordinary people, believe that it was necessary to declare general mobilization and quickly end this whole story with “great Ukraine” and its premature statehood,” - said military correspondent Dmitry Steshin, who is assigned to the Vostok battalion under the leadership of the former head of the DPR MGB Alexander Khodakovsky.

At the same time, his colleague Alexander Sladkov emphasized that the Russian military and the armies of the republics are coping with the assigned tasks:

“There is no need for mobilization in Great Russia, for now. We really operate in a minority, but on the front line we are opposed by people from the western regions of Ukraine. Now I’m speaking in a simplified way so that there is an understanding of the situation – three layers. The first layer that stands in front are the Ukrainian reservists, who were recruited for some kind of security activity in the rear, and suddenly they are told that they need to go to the front. They say: “Why, we want to be at home and receive a salary.” “No,” they say, “go forward.” These are on the first line, they are well trained and well armed, but, of course, these are no longer the same soldiers who fight on our side, our soldiers.

Then come the Armed Forces of Ukraine, these are professional troops, and only then the nationalist battalions, I’ll call them that. Although there are also detachments, regiments, companies, groups. Professionally, we are winning at the soldier level, at the officer level. Therefore, we are coping for now.”

Evgeny Poddubny shares a similar opinion:

“Russia has a system that allows volunteers to participate in a special military operation. Moreover, in different ways - there are combat reserves, there are volunteer detachments that are formed at the special forces university, there is the opportunity to go to fight in the armies of the Lugansk and Donetsk people's republics. And the flow of volunteers is coming. They also act with extreme caution with him, because it is quite frivolous to send untrained, unfired people to the front line right away. These people now often work in those sectors of the front where it is necessary to stand on the defensive, they work to support the advanced troops that are going on the offensive, and this is probably correct.

Another thing about personal attitude - since we have a professional army, then mobilization is an extreme case, when it will be necessary to admit that the professional army cannot cope. So far, judging by the actions of the military-political leadership of our state, there is no such assessment. Accordingly, there is no mobilization.”

At the same time, Semyon Pegov believes that mobilization can be not only in the form of military assistance, but also in other support for the army.

“I have always said that Donbass is not just the heart of Russia, it is, indeed, the front line along which the very meaning of Russia’s existence lies today. I have no illusions that if we don’t win here in Donbass, then Russia won’t exist either. Therefore, for me this is a war for life and death. Personally, for example, I don’t need to explain anything about the need for mobilization.

All my friends who consider it necessary are also here, and those who are not here are mobilized in civilian life in one way or another and help as best they can in other ways - the same humanitarian aid, targeted actions, among other things. For me, society should a priori be mobilized now - in one sense or another. And whoever can, should go to fight,” he concluded.
