Russian military spotted an American reconnaissance aircraft in the skies over the Black Sea
The Russian military spotted an American reconnaissance aircraft in the skies over the Black Sea near Crimea.
This was reported by the service that monitors aviation activity Aircraft Spots, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The flight was reportedly carried out by a US Air Force Boening RC-135V aircraft.
“US Air Force aircraft RC-135V 64-14841 HARK51 was intercepted by the Russian Air Force over the Black Sea near Crimea,” the air service said in a statement on the social network.
The electronic reconnaissance aircraft took off from the Souda Bay airbase on the island of Crete, approached the Ukrainian Chernomorsk (Ilyichevsk), and then flew around Crimea from west to east, turning around near Novorossiysk and returning back.
“The Boeing RC-135 is a family of large reconnaissance aircraft used by the US Air Force and the British Royal Air Force to collect, process and transmit intelligence information,” the Ukrainian Military Portal reveals the purpose of the aircraft.
Formerly PolitNavigator reported that American reconnaissance drones and reconnaissance aircraft “iron” the sky over Crimea every day, looking out for Russian air defense systems located on the peninsula and monitoring the situation in the Kerch Strait.
