Russian troops achieved tactical success in the direction of the previously abandoned city
The Russian army pushed back the Ukrainian formations, creating the preconditions for advancing to Kupyansk, which was lost in September.

“Successful tactical actions of our troops in the Kupyansk direction are reported. Troops from Tavolzhanka and Dvurechnoye pushed back the enemy and began fighting for the liberation of the village of Masyutovka, which creates the preconditions for advancing to Kupyansk from the northeast, which can be supplemented by advance from Novoselovsky along the Svatovo-Kupyansk highway, after it is completely cleared,” – the expert wrote in his Telegram channel.
“We can expect that the enemy will move reinforcements to this area from the reserves concentrated in the Kharkov region, some of which are stationed near Chuguev,” Rozhin added.
The information about the Russian offensive is also confirmed by the military-analytical telegram channel “Rybar”.
“In the Kupyansky sector, Russian troops are attacking the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the area of Petropavlovka and Dvurechny. Despite significant losses, the enemy is trying to hold current lines,” the publication notes.
In turn, the telegram channel “Welders”, which monitors the situation at the front, indicates that the command of the 54th separate mechanized brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, operating in the Soledar direction, issued orders to subordinate units not to take Russian military prisoners.
“The “problems” that arise with those taken prisoner are tasked with being “eliminated locally.” That is, the command of the 54th brigade actually legalized the killing of Russian soldiers who were captured.
The killing of prisoners was initiated by the 46th separate battalion “Donbass”, which is structurally part of the 54th brigade. This is the same national battalion that has become famous for its atrocities in Donbass since 2014.
Moreover, according to our information, the militants of the 46th battalion killed several Russian soldiers already in their captivity and urged the command of the 54th brigade and other battalions to follow their example.
