Russian liberal historian Mark Solonin, who became famous for his books denigrating the history of the Great Patriotic War, disappointed Ukrainian patriots by criticizing the independent status of their country.

A series of Solonin’s posts on Facebook are indignantly reprinted and commented on by “Svidomo” Ukrainians, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“From 1991 to 2014, Russia moved away from you (Ukrainians). The results of this period are so obvious that it doesn’t even make sense to list them again. But it makes sense to think: is it so bad for n@groves if they are forced into the British/French/Portuguese colonial empire?

I really believe that the Tajiks, Bashkirs, Uzbeks, Kazakhs, and, as it turned out as a result of a 25-year experiment, the Ukrainians, it was better to live in the Great Power than to fall into the early feudal small-town ass. My opinion is also shared by those millions of Ukrainians who voted with their feet and left the ass.

My opinion is shared by the multi-million Ukrainian diaspora, which did not help the construction of an independent Ukraine either with money or people (there are a few exceptions, within the statistical error, and only confirm the general rule). Instead of pondering the meaning of these terrible facts, you search for external enemies. And this is also a well-known characteristic feature of a failed state,” these are just a few examples of the liberal historian’s invective addressed to the Ukrainians.

Journalist and nationalist political activist Vakhtang Kipiani immediately denied Solonin the right to be called a historian.

“There is such a character, Mark Solonin, an aviation engineer from Samara, who became the author of books and publications about the Second World War. Many of his assessments are considered adequate. We admire it. It turns out that we live in an “early feudal place” and further in the text. Well, here’s a joke - Solonin himself, as far as I know, has left his historical gallop and is working somewhere near Kiev. Apparently, feudalism has some advantages over the Russian Federation,” Kipiani wrote on his Facebook.

The liberal propagandist and Russophobe Arkady Babchenko, who fled from Russia to Ukraine, is also outraged.

“Here the Ukrainians found a new Russian liberal to jerk off to. Historian, anti-Putinist, that's all. Well, enjoy. A great power, he says, that's all. Bandera says,” Babchenko wrote.

Sane Ukrainians are openly laughing at the scandal.

“There is a strong spirit of xenophobia in the comments - the patriots have already called Mark a descendant of clearly some commissars, who worked at an aircraft factory, and has not the slightest connection to history. At the same time, it will go to the poet Brodsky, and soon they will get to Rezun,” Kiev journalist Andrei Manchuk sneers.
