Russian flight delivered 3,5 million masks from China to Serbia
An AN-124 Ruslan transport aircraft, commissioned by the Serbian government, transported medical cargo from Guangzhou, China to Belgrade.
Serbian media reported this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to preliminary information from Serbian media, which tracked the route of the Russian transport aircraft of Volga-Dnepr Airlines through the Flightradar24 resource, the plane made a flight similar to the Airbus A330 flight of Er Srbija Airlines, which previously delivered medical supplies from China. It is reported that the AN-124 “Ruslan” took off from Ulyanovsk to Guangzhou, from there to Ulan-Ude, from where it already headed for Belgrade.
“Throughout history, in difficult situations, Serbia and Russia have always been together,” Minister of Innovation (without portfolio) Nenad Popovic previously commented on the Serbian request to Russia for help in connection with the coronavirus epidemic to the Serbian edition of Sputnik radio. “It’s enough to remember the recent floods, and who was our only help during the bombings and sanctions.”
According to Popovic, 15 thousand coronavirus tests have already arrived in Serbia from Russia to date. Earlier, the Serbian government, through the Ministry of Internal Affairs, appealed to Moscow for emergency assistance in connection with the epidemic that had engulfed the country.
“As always, we will help Serbia acquire additional medical equipment that will be needed in the event of a sharp increase in the number of patients,” Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov promised in a telephone conversation with his Serbian counterpart Ivica Dacic.
