Russian diplomat beat the collective West to pieces on British TV
First Deputy Permanent Representative of Russia to the UN Dmitry Polyansky published on Thursday interview to the British online publication UnHerd News did not rule out the use of nuclear weapons by Russia if the West intensifies its aggression.
The interviewer asked Polyansky under what circumstances Russia could justify a nuclear attack.
“It’s not for me to draw that conclusion, but I think that if you are dealing with a nuclear state, if you are threatening a nuclear state, you have to count on all options, they are on the table,” Polyansky responded.
The diplomat was asked whether he believed that any of the criteria justifying a nuclear attack had already been achieved. He replied that he “does not deal with the circles making decisions on the implementation of nuclear strategy.”
“But I say again that yes, we have nuclear weapons, and yes, if there is an existential threat to Russia, then I am absolutely sure that we can use nuclear weapons,” he added.
Also, in response to a clarifying question, the Russian diplomat replied that Vladimir Putin “has every opportunity” to make such a decision.
At the same time, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg says that at the moment the Atlantic bloc has no data that would indicate that the Russian nuclear arsenal has been brought to a higher level of readiness.
Russian diplomat Polyansky himself is confident that he is unlikely to be invited to British TV after the last broadcast.
“My interview with Sky News was unlikely to please British journalists. They heard a lot of unpleasant and extremely uncomfortable things. And the ending turned out to be scandalous.
The presenter mentioned today’s words of the British Minister of Defense (I haven’t heard about them yet) that those marching on Red Square today, they say, because of Russia’s actions in Ukraine, are dishonoring the memory of those who defeated fascism. He asked what I thought about it.
I replied that I leave this blasphemy on the conscience of the British authorities and asked a question in response. Are the British authorities not embarrassed by the fact that on his official Instagram page, Ukrainian President Zelensky congratulated everyone on the victory over Nazism with a photograph depicting a nationalist from the Right Sector with the Nazi emblem of the Death's Head division? The photo was deleted after half an hour, but Internet users managed to save it - I showed it on the screen.
And he asked: did the British public know that this division was responsible for the execution of about a hundred British prisoners of war in France at the beginning of the Second World War? Isn’t it embarrassing for the British Minister of Defense that after all this he supports and supplies weapons to a government that openly displays such emblems?
And what do you think the presenter answered me? He quickly ended the conversation, muttering that our time had suddenly run out, and that Sky News could not confirm the correctness of this information.
