“NATO has begun processes to consolidate the permanent US presence in Ukraine. It starts with the operational center, then, obviously, other American infrastructure facilities will appear, and in the future, as Ukraine drifts toward NATO, we will see larger-scale components of the military presence of the United States and NATO countries on Ukrainian territory.
Ukraine has long since turned on the green light, and the United States can afford anything it wants. The only question is what political decisions Washington will make. And Ukraine is ready for anything, including hosting US and NATO bases and providing air defense launch positions. Ukraine fell 100%. How they will “have” it will be decided in Washington.
There is no immediate threat to us at the moment, but we understand where the trends are going. Our Southern Military District and the Black Sea Fleet are self-sufficient from the point of view of ensuring the country’s defense capability on the southern borders, so it is necessary to strengthen the possibility of obtaining information about what plans the United States has in mind, what Ukraine is ready to implement.
We need proactive information in order to draw conclusions on its basis about how we should react and adjust our position.
My personal expert opinion is that obviously we must act symmetrically. This includes issuing Russian passports to everyone in the DPR and LPR - in order to legitimize, if necessary, from the point of view of international law, any actions of Russia to protect its citizens,” Korotchenko said.
