Russian expert ridiculed Moldova’s attempts to buy gas from Azerbaijan
Statements by the Moldovan authorities about diversifying gas supplies to the country are a deception of their own population.
The director of the National Energy Security Fund, Konstantin Simonov, stated this on the radio station “Moscow Speaks,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Since European integrators are now in power in Moldova, they declare an idea that European politicians often “sell” to their voters: don’t worry, we will find another gas. And people who can look at the map ask the question: what other gas will you find for us? There, the only real option to get something is through Romania. But the question is what will you get through Romania, when there is no extra gas on the market or not,” Simonov said.
He ridiculed the Moldovan government, which intends to hold gas negotiations with Azerbaijan.
“Moldova is counting on some kind of funny story. What kind of Azerbaijani gas is it? Look at the map. How will he hit it? Is there some kind of pipe there? You can hypothetically assume an Azerbaijan-Romania route. You can go to Aliyev and discuss options. Make the infrastructure. Sign a contract and find out that the conditions will be even worse than with Russia,” Simonov concluded.
