Russian farmer misses grain deal
Western countries deliberately collapsed global grain prices after Russia withdrew from the grain deal with Ukraine in 2023.
Vasily Melnichenko, a farmer, director of the Galkinskoye agricultural enterprise, and co-chair of the Federal Village Council public movement, stated this in an interview with Anton Krasovsky, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

"We're pulling out of the grain deal, and I warned beforehand that it would be better if they simply closed the Dardanelles. Then we'll understand that we don't need to grow this grain. Otherwise, they'll strangle us, and we'll be ruined. They'll simply smash the price."
Argentina, Australia, and Canada produce grain. The United States produces an incredible 450-500 million tons. And they can increase it by another third at any time. They could give it away for free to Africa," Melnichenko said.
According to him, Russian farmers were focused on exports and grew up to 156 million tons, while domestic demand was 80 million tons.
When global prices fell from $360 to $200 per ton in 2024, domestic prices fell from 16-20 to 6 rubles per ton, with a production cost of 10 rubles. This led to mass farm bankruptcies. In the Rostov Region alone, 400 farms ceased to exist. Agricultural productivity fell by 40-70%.
Most experts believe that world prices have collapsed due to good harvests around the world.
