The Russian Film Foundation is blocking a film about the defense of Sevastopol - senator
The Russian Federal Fund for Social and Economic Support of Russian Cinematography refuses an application for a film about the Great Patriotic War.
Senator Olga Timofeeva stated this during the Round Table within the framework of the work of the Temporary Commission of the Federation Council for the Protection of State Sovereignty of the Russian Federation, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“For two years, the cinema fund has been refusing the production group’s application for the film “Sevastopol 1942” about the last days of the defense of Sevastopol. Moreover, the first and second time in the script group the film took third position, in the second competition it took first position, and at the level of distribution of grants in the expert commission the film was cut down.
I am very interested to see how many films and in what areas were financed at public expense, and what kind of films they are. Because this is also a very good example and indicator of how our state funds work, and, above all, in whose interests,” Timofeeva noted.
