Thus, retired Lieutenant General Yuriy Netkachev draws attention to the fact that the new packages of military assistance from the West to Ukraine include many armored personnel carriers, infantry fighting vehicles and tanks (in total - up to 500-600 units). In addition, it is planned to install mine trawls and other engineering equipment that is capable of making passages in mine-explosive barriers.

“All this suggests that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are preparing a large-scale offensive. And a considerable amount of armored vehicles and, possibly, combat aircraft from NATO countries, under certain conditions, will be able to increase the mobility of Ukrainian troops, allowing them to conduct flank raids, envelopments, and landings at operational depth,” Netkachev warns in a commentary to Nezavisimaya Gazeta.

In turn, military expert retired colonel Nikolai Shulgin spoke about what countermeasures Russia could take in response to the Ukrainian offensive.

“Russia can prevent such actions by launching its own active offensive and further destruction of the enemy’s critical infrastructure, including from the Belarusian direction, as it already happened in February-March 2022.

Apparently, anticipating such events, Ukraine continues the military-diplomatic game with Russia’s allies, trying to leave it alone. This is exactly how we can evaluate the words of Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko that Kyiv is offering Minsk to conclude a non-aggression pact,” the analyst noted.

However, he believes that Kyiv will not be able to tear Belarus away from Russia.

“The Belarusian president has repeatedly stated that threats to the Union State also come from Ukraine. Therefore, Russia and Belarus are joining forces to jointly ensure the security of their borders, organizing military maneuvers and training of units and subunits of the regional grouping of troops of the Union State,” Shulgin concluded.
