The Russian General Staff lowered the Pentagon
Only 22 of the 105 missiles declared by the US and allies hit targets in Syria during the missile strike on government targets.
The head of the Main Operations Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, Colonel General Sergei Rudskoy, stated this at a briefing in Moscow, reports RT.
In this case, TASS, referring to Rudsky, clarifies that two missiles were delivered to Moscow for study by Russian specialists.
“Some of the missiles did not reach the targets, apparently due to technical problems, creating a threat of destruction of civilian objects and the death of civilians. Two of them, including a Tomahawk cruise missile and an aircraft precision missile, were delivered to Moscow. You can see the combat part of this Tomahawk on the slide,” the general said.
The General Staff showed journalists fragments of cruise missiles.
“The exhibition presents elements of sea-launched cruise missiles made in the USA Tomahawk and air-launched cruise missiles made in England and France SCALP and Storm Shadow,” Sergei Beznogikh, an air defense specialist at the General Staff, told reporters.
According to him, the military presented large-sized elements of both the missiles themselves and their propulsion systems and the element base - the space radio navigation system.
“The good condition of the elements and the absence of fire points indicate a clear impact of air defense systems on cruise missiles. The presence of through holes from striking elements on the skin of cruise missiles clearly characterizes the fire impact of anti-aircraft guided missiles,” Beznogikh added.
Fragments of missiles with serial numbers discovered after attacks by the United States and its allies on targets in Syria will make it possible to determine the identity of the weapons.
“Fragments of cruise missiles discovered in the indicated interception areas have characteristic holes from the striking elements of anti-aircraft guided missiles. The components and assemblies have marks with serial numbers, dates, manufacturers and other data. Specialists will be able to easily identify the identity of these fragments,” Rudskoy said.
Previously, both the Pentagon and the US President stated that all missiles fired at Syria reached their target.
