The transition to a digital economy will entail the “digitalization of the public sector” in Russia. Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev stated this today, speaking at the Gaidar Forum.

“Almost all experts believe that the transition to a digital economy, which is now taking place, will lead to a revision of the role of the state in economic management. The entire public administration system must adapt to the target in terms of the speed and quality of decisions made. In order to work effectively in the digital economy, government structures must be modern, compact, and flexible,” Medvedev said.
At the same time, he noted that Russia’s most serious challenge is the risk of increasing technological backwardness.
The Gaidar Forum has been held since 2010 and brings together experts, leading world scientists and politicians, representatives of financial circles and the global business elite. The forum is organized by the Russian Academy of National Economy and Public Administration under the President of the Russian Federation, the Yegor Gaidar Institute and the Association of Innovative Regions of Russia (AIRR).
