Russian fighter jet tickled the nerves of American pilots
Russian pilots in the Mediterranean scared American pilots twice in one day. So, yesterday, a Russian Su-35 intercepted an American R-8A reconnaissance aircraft for an hour and a half and flew too close twice.
This was reported by the press service of the US 6th Fleet, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
In one incident, a Russian fighter jet flew just seven meters from an American reconnaissance aircraft, which US pilots called “unprofessional.”
“The second interception was determined to be unsafe and unprofessional due to a high-speed maneuver by the Su-35 that closed the aircraft to within 25 feet, directly in front of the P-8A, exposing the US aircraft to the risk of turbulence and jet exhaust. In response, the P-8A, which was operating at a constant altitude and airspeed, descended to create separation and ensure the safety of both aircraft,” the report said.
The 6th Fleet also complained that a similar rapprochement also occurred on April 15.
“This incident followed an interaction on April 15, 2020, over the same waters where a Russian Su-35 was flying in the opposite direction to within 25 feet of a US P-8A,” the Americans said.
