“The Moscow Patriarchate now has a unique opportunity to take a step that will relieve tension. The dispute is about whose historically canonical jurisdiction is: the Ecumenical Patriarchate or the Moscow Patriarchate. If the Moscow Patriarchate suddenly grants a tomos to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate, this will be the basis for ensuring that there is no schism,” Okara said.

He claims that there are “different moods” in the UOC-MP, and a significant part of the bishops allegedly want autocephaly.
