The Russian liberal cruelly humiliated the Belarusian opposition and sent Radio Liberty away
Russian liberal writer Dmitry Bykov believes that in modern Belarus there are neither real oppositionists nor real writers.
The irreconcilable critic of the Kremlin unexpectedly announced this on the Ekho Moskvy radio, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Unfortunately, the main problem is that slavery is not in vain.
And the 25 years of actual slavery in Belarus that we observed, it also did not go in vain.
I don’t believe that under Lukashenko a clear opposition had time to form there.
I have seen terrible degradation at all levels in Belarus over the past 25 years.
And I haven’t seen much literature there lately, even remotely comparable to Korotkevich or even Alexievich.
I haven’t seen any serious drama or cinematography there lately. I didn’t see anything there that could somehow provoke a cultural explosion. And if this is not the case, then there is no opposition,” Bykov snapped.
This statement offended journalists from the Belarusian service of Radio Svaboda, who asked the Russian liberal to comment on some notable book novelties by Belarusian authors.
“You will not receive any answers to your questions. Goodbye,” Bykov replied.
Thank you!
