The arrest period is set until January 15. Ulyukaev will remain at his place of residence and will be limited in movement, communication and the use of electronic means of communication.
The investigator argued the request for house arrest by saying that the minister often goes on business trips abroad and can hide from the investigation, as well as put pressure on witnesses.
The head of the Ministry of Economic Development is accused of receiving a bribe of two million dollars for a positive assessment of Rosneft’s acquisition of a state-owned stake in Bashneft. According to the Investigative Committee, the minister was caught red-handed while receiving money.
In court, Ulyukaev did not admit guilt and “temporarily refrained from testifying.” At the same time, he emphasized that he intends to “cooperate with the investigation as much as possible.”
