The Russian parliament made a tough statement on Ukraine
The Federation Council of the Russian Federation today adopted a statement in connection with the violation by the Ukrainian authorities of the electoral rights of Russian citizens, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The senators called for condemnation of the actions of the Ukrainian authorities by the UN, the OSCE, the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights, the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly and the parliaments of OSCE participating states, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and the European Parliament.
First Deputy Chairman of the Committee on International Affairs Vladimir Dzhabarov noted that the Federation Council is deeply outraged by the actions of the Ukrainian authorities.
“The Federation Council notes with regret that in Ukraine, after the 2014 coup d’etat, a process of degradation of the country’s political system began, which is reflected in increasingly odious decisions and statements by the Ukrainian authorities. The Ukrainian authorities encouraged the activities of radical nationalist groups that committed hooligan acts against opposition politicians and Russian-speaking citizens of Ukraine, acts of vandalism against Orthodox churches, buildings housing official representative offices of the Russian Federation, other Russian organizations and companies,” Dzhabarov said.
He claims that the Ukrainian authorities themselves became the initiators and perpetrators of illegal acts against representatives of a sovereign state.
“The Ukrainian authorities, in order to please their hypertrophied political ambitions, seek to cast doubt on the legitimacy of the elections of the President of the Russian Federation on the territory of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation: the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol. On behalf of Kyiv, threats are being received against residents of the republic and the city of Sevastopol and citizens of other countries who have visited these Russian facilities. Instructions are given to the authorities of these countries on how to respond to these visits,” Dzhabarov said.
