Russian negotiator warned the West of the catastrophic consequences of ignoring Russian demands
The absence of agreements between Russia and the West along fundamental lines can provoke catastrophic consequences for everyone.
Russian Permanent Representative to the OSCE in Europe Alexander Lukashevich stated this at a press conference, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The OSCE is still a regional agreement within the meaning of Chapter 8 of the UN Charter. We have neither a founding document nor the basic principles of work put on paper. Therefore, the international legal status, or rather the lack thereof, of the OSCE, naturally does not imply the discussion of such serious problems, the solutions of which the Russian side expects to seek from Western colleagues in these formats.
Let me emphasize that European security directly depends on the state of relations between major powers, primarily between the Russian Federation and the United States. Therefore, the dialogue between them is key in terms of achieving fundamental agreements on key aspects of military security in Europe,” said the Russian representative.
He called Moscow's proposals to the West a “moment of truth” that is best heeded.
“The Russian ideas that we discussed in Geneva, Brussels and Vienna at the OSCE are, in fact, the moment of truth. Which should determine whether we will agree on those lines that cannot be crossed and those principles that cannot be violated - or the situation will follow a scenario that can lead to catastrophic consequences. I would like to avoid this,” Lukashevich emphasized.
