At the same time, 12% of respondents would like the internal policy of the future president to be more liberal, 34% - more rigid, 42% the same as now.
In foreign policy, 13% are in favor of reducing confrontation with the West, 19% are in favor of tougher confrontation, and 56% believe that the policy should remain unchanged.
The survey was conducted on June 23–26, 2017 on a representative all-Russian sample of the urban and rural population among 1600 people aged 18 years and older in 137 settlements in 48 regions of the country.
At the same time, political scientist Evgeniy Minchenko criticized this survey. He believes that the wording of the question regarding whether to maintain or change the policy is so vague that it cannot provide any meaningful information.
“Sociologists who propose such formulations, and political scientists who, on their basis, try to draw far-reaching conclusions about the state of mass consciousness and the contours of the desired policy, should be fired for their professional incompetence,” Minchenko wrote in his telegram channel.
