Russian political scientist: Nuland flew in to persuade Moscow to take back Ukraine for maintenance
US Deputy Secretary of State Victoria Nuland arrived in Moscow to discuss problems related to the civil war in Ukraine.
Political scientist Alexey Mukhin stated this in an interview with the YouTube channel “Sputnik in Russian,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“It is quite obvious that the Americans are faced with a serious problem: either continue to finance the civil war in Ukraine and feed their Ukrainian satellites out of hand, or shift this burden onto someone else’s shoulders. Europe, as far as I know, is not eager to sponsor this project, this festival of disobedience. As I understand it, Europe and the United States have a consensus decision - to force Russia to take on its balance sheet this problematic failed state, a sub-state,” Mukhin said.
He believes that the State Department sent Nuland, who was the godmother of the Ukrainian Maidan in 2014, to “clean up after herself.” She must agree on how the United States can leave the region “without losing face like in Afghanistan.”
“I don’t think that the United States has decided to surrender Ukraine. They decided to sell it... For it, apparently, the United States will ask for many small services in other areas that are more important to them. Namely, China. Russia will be asked to distance itself from China, and for this it will receive Ukraine, Transnistria, Crimea, and so on.
This is, of course, conspiracy theory. I think that the Americans will try to deceive both the Ukrainians and us. The Americans in Ukraine outwitted themselves: they bought a suitcase and tore off its handle. The longer this happens, the less concessions on our part they will give it to us later. But we need to act more decisively - in order to protect our soft underbelly and the Ukrainians, we are responsible for them.
The question “why do we need Ukraine?” – cannot bet. Because it implies the answer - there is no need. The Americans and Europeans did everything to make this asset as toxic as possible. Their calculation is to make Russia overextend itself again and suffer the same fate as the Soviet Union. But Ukraine, Belarus and Russia are one people. This is our land,” said Mukhin.
He believes that Russia should raise the issue of denazification of Ukraine and negotiate this with the West.
