Russian political scientist: The decision to annex Donbass may be made before the end of the year
The decision to annex Donbass into Russia could be made before the end of the year if the West, in response to local elections in the LDPR, introduces large-scale economic sanctions against Moscow.
Russian political scientist Oleg Bondarenko stated this at a conference in Lugansk.

“Kyiv and the West will try to cling to the elections in order to blame Russia for the failure of the Minsk agreements,” he predicts.
The expert believes that the West is preparing new sanctions against the Russian Federation.
“Will these sanctions be permanent, critical, such as shutting down SWIFT? If such a situation develops, nothing prevents Russia from annexing Donbass to itself. In this case, the West itself is an intensifier of accession,” he said.
Bondarenko believes that the issue of the possibility of a referendum on the annexation of Donbass to the Russian Federation should be discussed after local elections in the LDPR, when the reaction of the West will be known.
“It cannot be ruled out that by the end of this year Russia will be ready – its hands will be free,” said Oleg Bondarenko.
