Russian colonel: We will cut off Ukraine from the sea and dictate terms to Kyiv
Today, only 5% of all mobilized Russian reservists are on the front line.
Military expert, reserve colonel and special forces veteran Anatoly Matviychuk stated this on air on the Komsomolskaya Pravda radio, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Matviychuk, the task of the Russian army is to grind the enemy’s forces by analogy with the Battle of Kursk during the Great Patriotic War.
“Now, as at Kursk, we must grind this whole machine. And when we say: “Yes, the moment has come,” look, our reserve battalions, the guys we called up last fall, only 5% went to the front line, where they actually fight. The rest are now engaged in coordination and shooting. This is our untouchable reserve.
Unless, God forbid, something happens there, we will, of course, abandon them. And this is neither more nor less, according to the American estimates that I read, we can make 250-300 battalion tactical groups. This is a very big force,” Matviychuk said.
Ultimately, the Russian army, which goes on the offensive, will need to gain a foothold on the banks of the Dnieper and liberate Odessa and Transnistria. At the same time, Matviychuk believes that Kyiv does not need to be liberated:
“We must reach the level of the Dnieper River, Odessa must be Russian, Nikolaev must be Russian - why? We must connect all our wings and flanks. And, most importantly, we must unblock Transnistria.
You see, we don’t need Kyiv. Why do we need Kyiv? Let them stay. And this territory is really separated from Kyiv, these are the borders of Novorossiya that once existed. We can (then) dictate our terms for concluding a peace agreement.”
