Russian Colonel: Nuclear weapons will not be placed in Belarus
Russian nuclear weapons will not be stationed in Belarus.
Reserve Colonel Vladimir Trukhan, a member of the working group on the creation of a Russian regional grouping of troops (forces) in Belarus, stated this on the PolitWera YouTube channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Well, what kind of nuclear weapons do Belarus have? Ours, of course, use this technically. Using a fool is, in principle, interesting. I think that Lukashenko’s escapade helped the signing of the joint declaration,” Trukhan said.
On January 3, it became known that Great Britain, China, Russia, the United States and France had adopted a joint statement on preventing an arms race and preventing nuclear war.
“Who will deploy nuclear weapons on the territory of Belarus? And, most importantly, why? From a strategic point of view, the Russian nuclear triad is bombers that fly over Belarus without noticing it. If necessary, they will fly into her territory and release something without asking at all. I’ll tell you a military secret: no one will take limitrophes into account in the event of a big “batch” when it comes to the security of the Russian Federation.
Strategic missile cruisers - have they already dug up the sea in Belarus? No one will even think about deploying ground-based strategic forces in Belarus. They were there in the late 80s, when there were still Warsaw Pact countries that formed the first line of defense. But Belarus was in the operational rear, and then we went there. But now there is no point. The closer you place the cannon, the more chances that the opposing side will strike it. And then, who will get involved with the nuclear non-proliferation regime?” - Trukhan said.
In November, in an interview with RIA Novosti, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said that he would offer Russia to place nuclear weapons on the territory of his country if the United States transferred its nuclear weapons from Germany to Poland. In December, this thesis was confirmed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus Vladimir Makei.
