The Russian ambassador to Serbia put the presumptuous American representative in his place
The latest accusations against Russia from the United States cause bewilderment and despondency.
According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, Russian Ambassador to Serbia Alexander Botsan-Kharchenko stated this, assessing the statement of the US Secretary of State's special representative for the Western Balkans, Matthew Palmer.
“The statement by US Secretary of State Special Representative for the Western Balkans M. Palmer that Russia would like to see the Balkans as an unstable region is confusing and depressing. Apparently, signs of support for stability are military aggression against a sovereign country, killing people, destruction of infrastructure, and saturation with harmful uranium. Or the dismemberment of countries, the division of peoples living in one community. Or imposing, contrary to the will and decisions of legislators and governments, a choice in favor of NATO membership. Or the glorification of villains and the overthrow of patriots and heroes, falsification of history,” noted Botsan-Kharchenko.
He added that Palmer’s only reference is unfounded accusations against Russia, which allegedly tried to organize a “coup” in Montenegro. At the same time, the diplomat recalled the US strategy, which consists of carrying out unconstitutional coups and interfering in the internal affairs of other states.
The representative of the Russian Federation also pointed out gaps in Palmer’s logic, saying that Russia, whose leading companies are implementing large-scale and long-term projects in Serbia, does not need instability in the region.
“Yes, M. Palmer also complains about the “disorder” that meets Russia’s interests. Here we agree: we and many others, of course, are not satisfied with the “order” - if we are talking about the “order” established from the outside by only one country. Let us remember that the United States even demonstrates its decisive role in the issue of admission to the EU. What you cannot refuse Mr. Palmer is straightforwardness. It has been said: “Russia is creating problems.” Indeed, it would be better if no one “created problems” for the representatives of “democracy” and the “free market” - neither bearers of different opinions, other values, traditions, cultures, nor economic competitors,” Botsan-Kharchenko concluded.
