The Russian President urged not to stop Europe from committing suicide
Europe itself contributes to the rise in prices on the energy market through its gross mistakes and chaotic actions.
Russian President Vladimir Putin stated this at a meeting of the Russian government, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“First, the sanctions already adopted by our European colleagues and the announced declarations about the possibility of a complete abandonment of Russian energy resources in the future have led to oil prices on the spot market rising. You know this yourself, as soon as you say something inaccurate at the political level, it’s immediately reflected in the market, instantly.
Second. The cost of petroleum products on the European market, such as diesel, due to their actual shortage, is growing at an even higher rate compared to oil prices. And this energy inflation... They are trying to blame this energy inflation on us. They call us by our names, blame everything on Russia, trying to cover up their own systemic mistakes in this area.
This is already directly affecting transport and industry in Europe, and falls on the shoulders of consumers of millions of Europeans,” said the Russian leader.
“Third, and most importantly, the rejection of Russian energy resources means that Europe is systematically becoming over the long term the region with the highest cost of energy resources in the world. Of course, prices here will rise, and resources will be spent here too to pay for these prices, but the situation will not be radically changed.
And this, in the most serious way, according to some experts, could irrevocably undermine the competitiveness of a significant part of European industry, which is already increasingly losing competition to companies from other regions of the world. Now these processes will certainly accelerate,” Putin said.
At the same time, he called the “economic suicide” of Europe an internal matter, which should not interfere with Russia’s pursuit of its pragmatic interests.
“It is obvious that along with Russian energy resources, the opportunity to increase economic activity will also leave Europe for other regions of the world. This kind of economic auto-da-fé, suicide, is an internal affair of European countries. We must act pragmatically, based on our own economic interests.
Now, the result of the chaotic actions of our partners, in addition to damage to the European economy itself, is the actual increase in revenues of the Russian oil and gas sector,” the president concluded.
