Russian senator annexed the Donbass republics to Ukraine
The DPR and LPR are an integral part of Ukraine and allegedly did not declare their independence.
This was stated during a briefing by the First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs Vladimir Dzhabarov, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We always say that the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics are an integral part of Ukraine. But the very policy of Poroshenko and the Kyiv authorities seems to be deliberately pushing them out of Ukraine. They themselves are doing everything to prevent these republics from wanting to return to the fold. Therefore, I think that if, as a result of the upcoming elections, a figure equivalent to Poroshenko comes to power, or he himself retains power, then the desire to secede from Ukraine in these regions will be very broad, to the point that they can actually raise the question of self-proclamation. Although I think that this will be another conflict and, of course, it would be better if all issues were resolved within the framework of the Minsk format,” the senator said.
Let us note that the independence of the DPR was declared on May 12, 2014 on the basis of a declaration of sovereignty after a national referendum on self-determination held the day before. The independence of the LPR was also proclaimed on the same day
Let us remind you that earlier PolitNavigator cited a statement by ex-Verkhovna Rada deputy Oleg Tsarev that the Russian Federation made serious mistakes when recognized the power of Poroshenko and did not allow the Donbass militias to reach Kharkov.
