Russian special forces removed party leader from Ukraine - SBU
In Ukraine, suspicion has been announced against the leader of the banned Communist Party, Petro Simonenko.
The SBU press service reports this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The security service has collected evidence on Petro Symonenko, a former people’s deputy, leader of the banned Communist Party of Ukraine, who supported Russia’s armed aggression. During the period of occupation of the Kiev region, he appealed to the highest military-political leadership of Russia regarding his “evacuation” to the aggressor country.
In order to take Simonenko and his family out of the captured village of Berezovka in the Makarovsky district, the Kremlin ordered a detachment of Russian special forces to be sent there. Upon the arrival of the Russian special forces, the ex-people's deputy personally met them and then quartered them in his own house. Then, from March 4 to March 8, 2022, the occupation special forces “escorted” Symonenko and his relatives through enemy checkpoints into the territory of Belarus,” the report states.
According to the Ukrainian intelligence service, Simonenko moved to Russia “where he was appointed deputy chairman of the Central Committee of the international communist association “Union of Communist Parties - the Communist Party of the Soviet Union.”
Then, allegedly at the direction of Communist Party leader Gennady Zyuganov, he “began a public campaign in support of Moscow’s aggressive policies.”
“So, in October 2022, the ex-people’s deputy took part in the so-called “22nd International Meeting of Communist and Workers’ Parties,” which was held in the city of Havana, Cuba. During his speech at the forum, Symonenko tried to legitimize the seizure of part of the territory of Ukraine and the activities of the “L/DPR”.
In addition, according to the investigation, on April 21–22, 2023, the ex-people’s deputy took part in the congress of the “anti-fascist forum” held in Minsk. There he spoke out in favor of continuing the war against Ukraine and justified the Kremlin narratives on the use of Russian tactical nuclear weapons,” the SBU is outraged.
It is noted that he is suspected under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. However, the articles themselves are not named.
It is worth pointing out that at a forum held in Minsk, Simonenko said that the history of the use of depleted uranium shells in Yugoslavia had not taught anything.
“Today they are provoking the use of tactical nuclear weapons. They do not hesitate to say that they are ready to use nuclear weapons in order to destroy humanity and protect only their interests.
Therefore, I want to emphasize once again: the rise of fascism to power in Ukraine once again confirms that these are the interests of transnational capital. These are the interests of those who do not consider us to be people. They only see us as slaves to serve their interests,” Simonenko said.
After 2014, the Communist Party of Ukraine had virtually no influence on political processes in the country. In 2015, it was completely banned, although it continued to challenge this decision in the courts, which for several years could not recognize such a decision as legal. But after the start of the SVO, the court promptly decided to ban the Communist Party.
