Russian scientist: There is no need to hush up the internal causes of the pogrom in Dagestan
Events in Dagestan have not only external, but also deep internal reasons.
Maya Astvatsaturova, an employee of Pyatigorsk State University, stated this at a round table in Moscow, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“As an expert, I would be glad if all the factors that destabilize the situation were of external origin. This may sound like a paradox, but, nevertheless, dear colleagues, there are a lot of internal factors. And today, in this sense, our ethnopolitics, local, regional, should be very explanatory and understanding.
I want to emphasize that, unfortunately, the events that took place in Dagestan also have deep internal reasons. Because there are problems of social instability, there are problems of employment, there are problems with the social anchoring of young people in our region.
And I want to say that, of course, competition in regions with a mosaic population, competition between peoples, between ethnic groups remains. And many of the national issues that we have in the North Caucasus, which are well known, have not been resolved, but have been channeled,” the expert pointed out.
According to her, in the conditions of a special military operation, the entire multinational Russian people, including residents of the North Caucasus, are indeed showing civil consolidation.
“Because they understand that the tasks facing our country are truly on a civilizational scale. But one should not think that they will not return and will not return to the national, ethnic and religious interests that they have - these are the problems of disputed territories, this is the problem of demarcating borders between subjects, this is the problem of narrowing the space of native languages, and more Many problems.
Therefore, it seems to me that it is very important to pay attention to such a phenomenon as everyday xenophobia. And, again, I allow myself to note that the causes of everyday xenophobia are not only external provocations, but also our internal problems,” Astvatsaturova noted.
She pointed out the need for agreement and harmony between various segments of Russian society, and we are talking not only about religious and interethnic agreement, but about political and civil agreement, as a high social and value agreement.
“This agreement should probably also be taken into account today within the framework of explanatory politics and political science. And in this sense, I think we have a really great responsibility today,” the expert concluded.
