Russian military expert: I think this is the last parade in Kyiv
The Ukrainian parade held today in Kyiv on the occasion of “Independence Day” should be analyzed not by military experts, but by political ones.
Candidate of political sciences, retired captain of the first rank Sergei Gorbachev told PolitNavigator about this.
“The parade showed that, even after many years, the Ukrainian army, no matter how proud its leaders may be, remains the heir to the Soviet army. Ukraine was unable to become independent in terms of its military-technical potential. All that Ukraine has are Soviet developments. Maybe slightly modified. Nothing fundamentally new has been created, and it is unlikely that it will be created, because the most powerful defense industry is completely disorganized, and in some areas lost,” Gorbachev said.
As an example, he cited the implementation of Ukrainian shipbuilding programs.
“Ukraine was able to complete three ships that were not completed under the Soviet Union. During its independent existence, it built only a few coastal boats of the Gyurza type. Several of them were sold to Turkmenistan, and 6 became part of the Ukrainian Navy. This is all that the power has achieved,” Gorbachev said.
The expert believes that all the incidents that occurred with the Buk complex, a broken tank and a fainting soldier should be considered as “Freudian slips”
“Poroshenko and his entourage sought to demonstrate with this parade the independence and further separation of Ukraine from Russia. These attempts do not stand up to criticism. The introduction of a new military greeting, the incorrect quotation of the UPA anthem, the new uniform - everything is dissonant and suggests that these are foreign things that are not positively perceived by the majority of the Ukrainian population. The idea of achieving independence turned out to be untenable. I think this is the last parade in Kyiv,” summed up Gorbachev.
