Russian nuclear potential is a bone in the throat of the United States
The United States continues to increase its defense budget, which is an order of magnitude larger than Russia's.
Military expert Shamil Gareev told Nezavisimaya Gazeta, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports this.
“Russia and China have weapons that the Americans do not have, and most importantly, they have strategic nuclear weapons, which are a deterrent. And that is why the United States aims to further reduce it,” says Gareev.
According to him, the United States intends, in the face of challenges from China and Russia, to shift its focus from “unnecessary obsolete platforms and weapons systems in order to free up resources for investment” in advanced technologies.
The expert also draws attention to the fact that the American military budget for 2021 already allocates significant funds for the maintenance and modernization of nuclear deterrents, special attention is paid to plans for the militarization of space, the creation of hypersonic weapons, and aviation and naval forces are being built up.
“For the 2021 fiscal year, $740,5 billion is allocated for US national defense. This is an order of magnitude more than, for example, Russia spends on these purposes,” Gareev emphasizes.
