Russian journalist was detained in Riga
The Latvian Security Police detained the editor-in-chief of the Sputnik-Latvia radio station, Valentins Rozhentsovs, “for a conversation.”
Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova stated this at a briefing today, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Please note that the “conversation” lasted more than 10 hours. We see and note pressure on editorial policy in the context of this “conversation,” Zakharova said.
The Russian Foreign Ministry intends to send information about the detention incident to international human rights organizations.
“We will monitor this situation and transmit all data through the OSCE. After receiving all the facts, we will work with the international journalistic community and with international organizations that specialize in protecting the rights of media representatives,” added Maria Zakharova.
