A Russian journalist visited Kyiv at the invitation of Zelensky
Izvestia MIC columnist Alexey Lazurenko visited the Ukrainian capital after the invitation of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, who addressed Russian journalists in Paris with an appeal to “feel with their hands, feet, eyes” what is happening in the country.
This was reported on the website of the Izvestia newspaper, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Lazurenko, he had to fly to Kyiv from Paris through Yerevan.
“Our task was to clearly understand how sincere and real Zelensky’s invitation is. Besides, I haven’t seen Kyiv for five years. It was interesting to see how the city has changed. Since the late 2014s, I have been coming here for parliamentary and presidential elections. But I didn’t get into the XNUMX elections—I was denied entry then,” the journalist told the newspaper.
Now everything went quite calmly, and at passport control a representative of the Russian media directly stated that he had arrived after Zelensky’s press conference and his invitation.
“We were taken aside from passport control, conducted an additional interview for about 20 minutes, and had to tell this story in detail again. After that, we were sent to the general waiting area and no more than an hour later an employee came up, gave us our passports, said that we could go through passport control, we filled out the declaration, received a stamp and a minute later left Boryspil,” Lazurenko said.
It is noteworthy how the question about visiting Crimea was asked at the airport - not affirmatively or negatively, but “How many times have you been to Crimea?”
Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov called the Izvestia journalist’s passage to Kyiv good news. Other Russian officials also commented on this fact in a positive manner.
