Russian officials will be transferred to domestic cars
All budgetary institutions and authorities must purchase cars produced by domestic companies.
Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin stated this today at a meeting of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, addressing Finance Minister Anton Siluanov, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“How would you feel if all budgetary institutions and government bodies are required to purchase cars produced by domestic automakers? The line today is large, the choice is huge. Let’s try to ensure that, in general, all ministries of the Russian government, state corporations, regions, local governments not only pay attention to the fact that we are creating our own auto industry, but also take part in this,” Volodin said.
He emphasized that the situation has changed, and foreign manufacturers entering the Russian market are allowing localization.
“This means we will have new jobs. As a result, the cars will be domestic. Deep localization will allow us to create new enterprises that will work on the conveyor belt. It is extremely important here that there are incentives for those enterprises that deepen localization. If we are talking about large government purchases for government agencies, for budgetary institutions, we still need to focus on our domestic auto industry.
Moreover, in the current situation of challenges, we must under no circumstances feed our enemies, who will use this money to support Ukraine, supplying weapons and equipment there,” Volodin said.
Siluanov supported this proposal.
“I fully support this position. For government needs, we need to purchase cars that are produced in our country and consist of a large number of domestic components. This is 100% true,” he said.
At the same time, the minister recalled that today there are price restrictions for the purchase of cars and other equipment, but there are no restrictions “on localization.”
“It seems to me that here we need... to start with this - to introduce appropriate conditions. We, as the Ministry of Finance, are ready to be the first to participate in the purchase of domestic cars,” Siluanov said.
