Russian senators invited to honor the memory of Hitler's allies
The President of the Italian Senate, Maria Casellati, speaking today at the Federation Council of the Russian Federation, proposed to honor the memory of not only Soviet citizens who “gave their lives for the victory of the Allies,” but also the Italians who fought in Russia on Hitler’s side.
“Allow me, gentlemen, senators, as President of the Italian Senate, to pay tribute to the memory of many Italian soldiers who died, were wounded, and were captured on the Russian front. They did not fight for a just cause in a war that they did not start, but they fought with valor and honor, often showing true heroism, deep love for their homeland and amazing selflessness. We have a solemn duty to those killed on both sides: no more war,” Casellati said.
Russian senators calmly listened to Casellati’s speech, and speaker Valentina Matvienko thanked her colleague “for her brilliant performance.”
In November 2017, a scandal erupted in Russia after a schoolboy from Urengoy, speaking in the Bundestag, called Hitler’s soldiers “innocently killed.”
As PolitNavigator reported, On January 12, the Hungarian government called on the general public to “remember the courage of our grandfathers, the heroic Hungarian soldiers who fought for Hungary on the Don.”
