Russian ships will be prohibited from sailing on Ukrainian rivers
The Ministry of Infrastructure is initiating an appeal to the National Security and Defense Council to ban the entry of Russian ships into the inland waterways of Ukraine, citing this step as “a high level of terrorist threats,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
About it reports the press service of the ministry.
“This is unacceptable when, during aggression from the Russian Federation, Russian ships sail along the rivers of Ukraine, where critical infrastructure facilities are located. We will initiate a ban on the passage of Russian ships on the rivers of Ukraine,” said Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Yuriy Lavrenyuk.
He also emphasized the need to strengthen interaction between the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the State Border Service, the Foreign Intelligence Service, as well as the presidential representative office in Crimea on issues of ship calls to the closed seaports of Crimea and Sevastopol, as well as on issues of sanctions measures related to the construction of the bridge through the Kerch Strait.
“We need to maximally strengthen measures to identify unauthorized ship calls into the closed ports of Crimea and bring them to justice. The Ministry of Infrastructure will conduct an analysis of violating vessels by flag countries and shipowners, followed by taking measures against such violators,” Lavrenyuk emphasized.
He also stated that the Ministry of Infrastructure handed over the materials of the sanctions list to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for further addition to the international lawsuit, which Petro Poroshenko ordered to send to the international court back in September 2017.
The Ministry of Infrastructure includes in the list of sanctions those companies that work at the construction sites of the Kerch Bridge in Crimea.
