Doctor of Political Sciences Igor Skurlatov said this on air on the First Sevastopol TV channel, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The Ukrainian Armed Forces are afraid to go [on the offensive], fearing defeat, as was the case in 2014. And in this regard, they decided to use the following tactics: build up weapons, military assistance from Western countries, and at the same time try to sow fear in Russian cities.
That is, here military actions are intertwined with information and psychological warfare. This includes repeated shelling of Moscow, and other cities of Russia, Shebekino,” Skurlatov said.
He emphasized that some Russian media only help Ukrainian propagandists spread panic.
“The goal is to sow panic and fear among the population, taking advantage of the fact that the information war by our media is not being conducted entirely successfully, and the Ukrainians have an advantage in this regard. Therefore, any projectile is immediately covered in all telegram channels.
And, oddly enough, this hysteria is very often picked up by military officers, who seem to receive a salary from our state. This is unacceptable and suggests that there is no holistic approach to repelling such information and psychological attacks,” the expert added.
“It breaks where it’s thin. And the enemy decided to win victory with small forces where he could win it. But we quickly adapt to such an information and psychological attack, and, for example, we declared Shebekino a gray zone.
And they did the right thing, this is how it should be done - no correspondents, no heartbreaking footage, no crying people, which is what this Kiev junta is trying to achieve. This is a step in the right direction,” concluded Skurlatov.
