So, according to the head of the Korotich airfield, Sergei Filatov, who taught Nadezhda flying, she could not cope with the basic element of the program.
“On landing, she did not see the ground. She simply could not land the plane. It took off, flew in a circle, but after the third turn there was no further work,” Filatov said.
Savchenko also did not have success with her studies at the university - she was expelled from the university twice with the wording “unsuitable for flying as a pilot.” But every time it was restored back.
“To advertise the Ukrainian army, which was not very popular at that time, she was nevertheless put into a military school through the efforts of the then Minister of Defense Anatoly Gritsenko, she was allowed to graduate, but she never became a pilot,” noted Ukrainian political scientist Rostislav Ishchenko.
