Russia is no longer interesting to the USA
Unlike the Soviet Union, today's Russia, with the exception of nuclear weapons, has little interest for the United States.
Nikolai Platoshkin, head of the department of international relations and diplomacy at Moscow Humanitarian University, said this on air at PolitCafe, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Now the American opinion about Russia is that it is an ordinary country. Well, what are Russians? Oligarchs, bandits, mafia, high prices. They respected the Soviet Union as the other pole. You know, there were two shining temples on the hill: “One is ours, the American one, it is better, no doubt, but these also have their own temple. Yes, they are mistaken, but they have a different way of life, the Soviet way of life.” You see, it’s not just another country, different missiles. No, a different way of life. They were interested in us. Now they are less interested in us,” Platoshkin said.
“In terms of American films, we are in second place in terms of distribution after the United States itself, we even surpass China. More American films are watched here than in China. Why should they, in fact, be particularly interested in us? Now they are interested in one thing - nuclear weapons. Again, this is the only country in the world that is capable of erasing the United States from the map of the globe - that’s what they care about. Everything else, in general, is not,” the expert said.
