Russia for the first time refused $100 million in financial assistance to Transnistria, a source in the Supreme Council of the republic told the newspaper. Transnistrian political scientist and deputy Dmitry Soin shared with the publication information that the richest Russian oligarch Alisher Usmanov is allegedly returning the budget-generating metallurgical plant MMZ (Rybnitsa) to the state ownership of the PMR and leaving the unrecognized republic. The same fate allegedly awaits the Rybnitsa cement and slate plant.
“We believe that Transnistria should be a special region with special guarantees of status within the framework of a single Moldovan state,” the newspaper quotes Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Grigory Karasin with reference to TASS.
