Russia will insist on punishing the Turkish pilots who shot down the Russian plane
The Russian side will insist that Turkish citizens involved in the death of Russian soldiers suffer severe punishment.

Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova told reporters about this today.
“We initially demanded that the Turkish side conduct a comprehensive, objective investigation into the tragedy in the skies over Syria in November 2015. We proceed from the fact that Ankara, after constructive progress in bilateral relations, will fulfill what the Russian side told it. For us, this is one of the priority issues, because people who are involved in the death of Russian military personnel must suffer the most severe punishment,” Zakharova said.
According to her, the Russian side also hopes to influence Turkey in matters of Syrian settlement.
“We will talk constructively at the negotiating table with our Turkish colleagues about the need to work together on international platforms. And of course, to discuss those, to put it mildly, problematic issues that we informed the UN Security Council about: the transparency of the Syrian-Turkish border, the supply of weapons to militants - they all remain on the agenda. What to expect from Turkey is a question for Ankara,” Zakharova said.
She recalled that the Russian President gave the Foreign Ministry instructions to normalize Russian-Turkish relations. “The process is quite active. But improving relations is not a matter of one day,” Zakharova said.
