Deputy Chairman of the Public Chamber of the Republic of Crimea, political scientist Alexander Formanchuk stated this on the air of the talk show “Everything is as it is with Maria Volkonskaya.”
The expert recalled how, after the use of military gas on February 26, 2014 against peaceful residents of Simferopol by the Mejlis and Right Sector militants, People's Deputy Mustafa Dzhemilev boasted on the Maidan that they were “harassing separatists” in Crimea.
“That is, they perceived these events as some kind of victory. And at that critical moment a miracle happened, which happened on the night from the 26th to the 27th. This was a historical chance for which we are, first of all, grateful to the President of the Russian Federation, since only a person of strong political will and strong character could take on the burden of responsibility that he took on for this historical event,” noted the studio guest.
“The main result of the past year, I personally think, is that the Russian Federation has given a guarantee of personal safety to every Crimean citizen. This is the most important thing, this is something that cannot be measured by any material benefits or any other. This is something we are acutely aware of when we look at events in the Southeast. We understand perfectly well that if it were not for the return to Russia, the tragic fate of Crimea would be similar to what we see today in the Southeast,” emphasized Alexander Formanchuk.
