Russia is betting on freezing Ukraine, - Rostislav Ishchenko
Russia has relied on freezing the Ukrainian crisis, since it is not yet clear what to do with the former Soviet republic - even the coming to power of conditional opponents of Euromaidan does not mean the establishment of a pro-Russian regime, which could already be observed in the example of Viktor Yanukovych and Leonid Kuchma.
President of the Center for System Analysis and Forecasting, Rostislav Ishchenko, said this on the Red Line TV channel.

“If negotiations have been going on for a year and a half, then they are being conducted not to reach agreements, but for other purposes. This is not even a freezing of the conflict in Donbass, but of all of Ukraine. Because in fact, no one knows what to do with Ukraine. Even if Russia had occupied it in 2014, it would have had to invest a lot of money in it, and as a result there would have been exactly the same Russophobic regime,” Ishchenko said.
At the same time, he believes that the Normandy and Minsk formats have ceased to be a deterrent for Kyiv.
“Two years later, they saw what they were warned about: they were no longer needed by either the United States or Europe, either as a whole state or as political figures. The Americans are ready to burn them in the furnace at any moment, and the Europeans and Russia do not know what to do with them. Therefore, they began to break into a military conflict,” Ishchenko said.
